Pain Relief Foundation
A little more information about Pain Relief Foundation Registered charity 1156227
We were established as a registered charity in 1979 in response to the need for specialized research into the causes and treatment of chronic pain in humans. We receive no official funding from the NHS or any other government body and thus rely entirely on charitable contributions and fund raising.
We also promote and provide education and training for doctors and other health professionals on chronic pain, its treatment and management.
Incidence of chronic pain is rising it now affects around 20% of the UK population, yet not enough treatments are available. In this underfunded field, more translational research is urgently needed.
We aim to provide as much information as possible to chronic pain sufferers and patients on chronic pain conditions through our website and leaflets that are readily available. We also hold monthly social groups of patients who have attended the Pain Management Programme within the Sid Watkins building were people with chronic pain can come along and socialise and chat with other people with chronic pain.
The Foundation is associated with the Pain Clinic at The Walton Centre for Neurology and Neurosurgery NHS Trust. We are based in Clinical Science Centre within Aintree Hospital.
We are like any charity currently struggling to Fundraise, seek volunteers or corporate sponsors if you have any interest in helping please contact our fundraiser Jo Stephens.
